Christian Coyle (IRL) had full confidence in Ma Pomme de Tamerville in the CSI2* Winning Round 1.45m, despite only having ridden the chestnut mare for about two weeks. That positive attitude was reaffirmed when he and the mare bested the opening class of CSI Greenwich 2022. The top 10 combinations returned for a second round over Alan Wade's (IRL) 1.45m track, where they started fresh on zero scores. Coyle needed no such assistance. He and his mount were clear and fastest in both rounds of jumping, recording a comfortable win; the winning time was 34.19 seconds. Paul O'Shea (IRL) and Chancelloress finished second (34.36 seconds), with McLain Ward (USA) and Flight Lady third (34.92).

"I just got her about two and a half weeks ago. [The mare's former rider] Tim Wilks and his sister Anna Wilks probably deserve all the credit. I just steered her around today," Coyle said. "She was brilliant. I took her to [our] first show last week, and she was fantastic there as well."

Coyle has developed an affinity for Greenwich, having won the opening class at the venue in its inaugural year in 2021.

"This is a fantastic show. I won this class on another horse last year, Dekato," he said. "Today is a bit more [prize] money, so it makes it more special for us. It's a fantastic facility, and [Organizing Committee President] Kent Farrington does a great job."
